RESTORATION COMPETITION

Sunday 9th May saw the launch of the Restoration Cup competition for Club Members.   Members were invited to find a vintage item that needs to be restored and they have been given 16 weeks to work on their project.

We are delighted to say that we have two very esteemed Judges in Michael Fleming and Billy King,  who are very familiar with vintage machinery and equipment of all kinds and they spent sunday afternoon travelling around to meet the various entrants and to look at the chosen items.

There are a variety of entries, some more difficult than others and certainly some far far more ambitious than others.

We have a horse plough, a Pearse seeder, a grey and gold ferguson, a MF Dung spreader, a turf cart, a MF Corndrill, a plough, a bamford mowing bar and a MF 165.

Certainly that is an interesting mix of items and the Judges both agreed that there was a serious challenge ahead for those who have entered.

Photographs were taken of all the items before any work has started and it is hoped that the winning project will be displayed at the Irish Vintage Society stand at the National Ploughing Championships in Athy next September.

So we wish everyone the best of luck with many long hours ahead of you all and we will be checking in on the entrants over the next few weeks to see how things are progressing.
